Do you know 20 per cent of
the travelers to Malaysia were Asean passport holders?
As a result, Malaysian Immigration Department launched two express
lanes at KL International Airport (KLIA) and KL International Airport 2 (KLIA2)
for arrival and departure of travelers from the Asean countries
and those from other countries with long-term visa.
So that the Immigration counters can function faster and more smoothly
with these two systems without hassle of long queues.
Foreigner eGate would be a fast-track facility for foreigners with
long-term visa that would also record their biometric details.
As of now, there are five express Asean lanes in KLIA, two at the
International Departure Terminal and three at the International Arrival
Terminal whereas KLIA2 has four such lanes, two at each terminal.
The Asean Lane would expedite the immigration procedure for people from
Asean attending meetings, seminars and conferences in Malaysia.
Such an initiative has already been undertaken by countries such as
Singapore, Thailand and Brunei Darussalam.
